The Events Nova Scotia team worked closely with the bid committee preparing and submitting the winning bid for the 2014 International Federation of Disabled Sailing (IFDS) World Championship.

The event is a designated pre-qualifier for the 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro and is the most prestigious event in the Disabled Sailing Calendar outside of the Paralympic Games. The event is tentatively scheduled for August 2014 at the Royal Nova Scotia Yacht Squadron in Halifax, NS.

Nova Scotia continues to build on its sailing reputation of hosting sailing related events including; International Laser Class Association (ILCA) World Laser and Laser Masters Championships, Clipper Round the World Yacht Race, ISAF World Youth Sailing Championships, Laser National Qualifying Regatta, Laser Canadian Championships, Laser North American Championships, Etchells North American Championships, CYA Canadian Youth Sailing Championships, CYA Sail East Regatta, Canadian Optimist Dinghy Championships & World Championship Qualifier, J-24 Canadian Championships and the Bi-Annual Marblehead to Halifax Offshore Sailing Race.
